Basic information about MPSC Exam 

Educational Qualification: Any Graduation or those who are applying in their final year they can also apply 

Age limit: Minimum age is 19 years and maximum age is 38 years and for other categories like OBC, SC, ST, NT is maximum age is 43 years.

Exam attempts :

  • Open – 06. 
  • OBC and remaining backward classes- 09.
  • SC & ST – No limits for exam attempts.

MPSC Syllabus: MPSC Exam Pattern 

There are three stages of the exam to crack MPSC service those are shared below : 

  1. prelims 
  2. Mains
  3. Interview 

MPSC Syllabus: MPSC Preliminary Exam pattern

MPSC Preliminary Exam consists of two papers and both exams are objective. Both exams are compulsory. 

Paper I :

  • No. of Questions – 100.
  • Total Marks – 200.
  • Standard – Degree.
  • Medium – English & Marathi .
  • Duration – 2 hrs.
  • Nature of Papers – Objective.

Paper-II :

  • No. of Questions – 80.
  • Total Marks – 200.
  • Standard – Mix of Degree and School (depends on topic – refer below)
  • Medium – English & Marathi .
  • Duration – 2 hrs.
  • Nature of Papers – Objective.

Paper I Syllabus

Current events of state, national and international importance.

History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and Indian National Movement.

Maharashtra, India and world geography – Physical, Social, Economic geography of Maharashtra, India and the World.

Maharashtra and India – Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights Issue, etc.

Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.

General issues on Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization.

General Science

Paper-II Syllabus

Comprehension

Interpersonal skills including communication skills

Logical reasoning and analytical ability

Decision-making and problem-solving

General mental ability

Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. – Class X level)

Marathi and English language comprehension skills (Class X/XII level) Questions relating to this will be tested through passages from Marathi and English language without providing cross translation thereof in the question paper.

Important Notes :

  • In Both Exams, there is a Negative Marking for incorrect answers.
  • Both exam papers are considered for qualifying for the main exam.

MPSC Syllabus: MPS Mains Exam pattern

In the MPSC Mains exam, there are six compulsory papers. paper I and Paper II are the language papers. and paper III, IV, V, VI are general studies papers. In MPSC Main Exam there is no optional subject.

Yes, Marathi language is compulsory for MPSC exam. Because there is one paper in main exam and it is of 100 marks
